The Journey of Hanumanth GC: From Engineer to Entrepreneur

Our Story

Hanumanth GC’s journey from an engineer to the founder of HalfMonkey is a story of passion, perseverance, and a deep-rooted love for traditional food. Inspired by his father’s tea shop, Hanumanth ventured into the food industry to recreate the sense of community, warmth, and authenticity he grew up with. HalfMonkey was born out of the desire to blend the rich flavors of North Karnataka with modern, hygienic dining experiences.

The Birth of Halftea, Mr. Girmit, and Half EggRice

With the support of his family, Hanumanth decided to take the plunge into entrepreneurship. He envisioned a place that served the authentic and beloved street foods of India but in a more organized and hygienic setting, blending tradition with modernity.

Inspired by his father’s tea shop, Hanumanth opened *Halftea*, a café that served various types of tea along with traditional snacks. The concept of “half tea,” a smaller portion of tea, was a nod to the casual, everyday tea culture of India. The café became an instant hit among students, office-goers, and anyone looking to relax with a good cup of tea and light snacks.

Mr. GIRMIT

To diversify his offerings, Hanumanth launched Mr. Girmit, focusing on the popular North Karnataka dish, Girmit, a spicy puffed rice delicacy. This move catered to the love for regional flavors, attracting food enthusiasts who cherished authentic local cuisine.

HALF eGGrICE

Understanding the need for quick, nutritious, and affordable meals, Hanumanth started *Half EggRice*, offering a variety of egg-based rice dishes. These meals were perfect for people with busy lifestyles who still wanted to enjoy a home-cooked feel. The combination of flavors and the convenience made it a popular choice among his customers.
